UKWAS consultation and FSC UK stakeholder event


A public consultation on the UK National Forest Stewardship Standard, familiar to most forest managers as the UK Woodland Assurance Standard or UKWAS, is now open until 30 April.

Join us on 31 March (14:00-15:30) for an opportunity to learn about the revision process and proposed changes to the standard, and to ask questions of those involved. Register here.

FSC International will host two webinars covering the changes introduced to the FSC Chain of Custody certification requirements by the inclusion of the FSC Core Labour Requirements.

Webinar: FSC certification for small & community woodlands


FSC UK are participating in a joint event on Tuesday 23rd March (14:00-15:30) with the Community Woodlands Association, Llais y Goedwig and the Small Woods Association, looking at the potential gains from certification and exploring what it would mean on a practical level for community and small woodlands.

Case study: Hunter


Hunter launched an FSC-certified iteration of its iconic, 100% waterproof Original Tall and Original Short Wellington boot in November of 2020. In an Olive Green with the FSC’s hallmark on the inside of the boot, each pair were crafted from natural rubber harvested from plantations independently audited by FSC. The audit ratified that the boots met the FSC’s rigorous standards to protect forests, as well as the animals and communities that depend on them.

FSC UK have signed a letter to the Prime Minister calling for his commitment to reverse nature’s decline by 2030 to be backed-up in law.

8th March: International Women's Day


Gender equality is a basic human right, and empowering women is imperative to achieving a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. Gender equality can also have huge socio-economic benefits through contributing to economies and increasing productivity. However, gender inequality persists around the world.

At FSC, we are determined to ensure that men and women have equal rights and opportunities in FSC-certified companies.

The first FSC project certified castle in Japan


Hamamatsu Castle, a Japanese castle dating back to the 16th century, has recently been refurbished to commemorate the 450th anniversary of its construction, and is the first castle in Japan to receive FSC project certification.
