There are few things more satisfying in business than bringing together a group of people who know exactly what they're doing — and who've spent years doing it brilliantly together.
We're delighted to share some exciting news from the yard. Over the past few months, Nick's Timber has been quietly building something special: a dedicated specialist sales team with deep expertise in hardwoods and premium softwoods, major investment in our delivery fleet, and a significant upgrade to our milling operation.
Reuniting a Talented Team
Many of you in the trade will recognise some familiar faces. Following the closure of International Timber at Parkend, we moved quickly to bring together some of the most experienced timber sales professionals in the region.
Andy Wilce, Julie Roberts, and Clare Robertson — all ex-International Timber — joined us in October to form the core of our Coleford office team. Their knowledge of premium hardwood and specialist softwood products is second to none, and they hit the ground running.
In January, we were pleased to welcome Ian Hay, also from International, into our Gloucester yard team. Ian is focused on picking and managing stock to fulfil the orders the Coleford team have been bringing in — and there have been plenty of those.
And from the 9th of March, the final piece of the puzzle is in place. We're thrilled to welcome Jason Daw to the Coleford team, completing what is genuinely an exceptional group of timber specialists ready to serve our customers across all product lines.

New Vehicles on the Road
To support the growth in sales, we're also investing in our delivery fleet. A curtain sider and a covered 3–5 tonne vehicle are currently being painted in Nick's Timber livery and will soon be out on the road across Gloucestershire and beyond.
Investing in Our Milling Operation
One of the reasons Nick's Timber has been around for 168 years is straightforward: when something needs doing, we just get on and do it.
The latest example of that is a major investment in our milling capability. We've just purchased a new Moulder, Grinder, and Template Maker, moving our milling operation into a fully computerised process. The result will be a significant improvement in accuracy, quality and production output, with faster set-up times between profiles.
Of course, new machinery needs a proper home — so the team have gone ahead and built a tool room extension to house it all. Turns out we have a pretty multi-skilled bunch in the yard.
The machine arrives in a couple of weeks. 168 years in, and we're still very much moving forward.
